Understanding iPhone Serial Number Series Codes

Have you ever noticed the serial number of your iphone ? Well there’s a slight chance that you would have but after reading this article you definitely will. Today we have a really exciting secret about the serial number of your iphone that can help you find out a lot more about your iPhone.

This number which is printed on almost every electronic equipment manufactured and it is done to record the details about type, color the manufacturing year and more. Till now there was no way to decode the number but we will help you do that with the following information.
The serial number is of the following format : AABCCDDDEEF
Now take a code for example : 88123XXXA4S
Here is how you can decode it :
AA – Factory ID (88 etc. )
B – Year of Manufacturing ( 1 = 2011, 0 = 2010 etc. )
CC – Production week ( 23 = 23rd week etc. )
DDD – Unique Identifier
EE – Color (A4 = Black etc. )
F – Memory size ( S = 16 GB etc. )
There is no guarantee that the serial number cannot be changed and once you send it to the factory for refurbishing then you will get it back with a different serial number. There is no mapping information available to check out the factory location with help of the codes but still you can find out if two different phones are from the same factory.
The last three digits indicate the color and size and you can determine the information as :
