The Galaxy Note 2 is a highly customizable, hackable Android smartphone. But what if you screw things up and the phone starts acting wonky? What happens if the software locks up or the phone gets sluggish? Read on to find out!

If your Note 2 is having issues, the next best thing you can do is a complete hard reset. A hard reset is a basic software process that completely erases all information on the smartphone, bringing it back to a factory state. It essentially wipes the phone clean.

Here we show you how to hard reset the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with step-by-step instructions. See below:

  • From the Note 2 home screen, select Settings.
  • Once inside the settings application tap Storage.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap Factory Data Reset.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and select Erase Everything.
  • Finally, confirm that this is what you actually want to do by tapping Yes.
  • Your Galaxy Note 2 will now reset.

If that doesn't work, try this:

  • Turn the power off. If your Note is frozen or sluggish pull the battery out and reinsert it.
  • Hold the Volume Down button.
  • Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on.
  • You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastboot, Recovery and Clear Storage.
  • Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button.
  • Press and release the Power button.
  • Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for Yes and Volume Down for No.

Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory state. Everything should then be all good!
